Specimens of the mil and cent now circulating are
forwarded herewith.
Referring to the question raised in paragraph 6
of the Acting Colonial Treasurer's letter, it may be men-
tioned that $17,000 in half-cents for the Straits Sottle-
ments would be packed in 200 boxes, of $50 each, andwould
occupy a space of about 100 cubic feet.
It would seem best that the weight of the new
Hong Kong half-cent should be half that of the present cent,
and that the inscription on it should (mutatis mutandis) be
the same as that on the cent, but before any of the new
coins are struck it would be desirable that the above con-
siderations should be submitted to the Governor and his
opinion taken upon them.
